Saint-Cyprien
Saint-Cyprien is a small town with a lively marina. This is the third largest marina in Europe with 2200 moorings. Around the marina there is an excellent choice of restaurants serving traditional French as well as Catalan fare. The Saint-Cyprien website lists 59 different restaurants. In Saint-Cyprien there is an indoor swimming pool, a small supermarket, a post office and all the usual small shops for bread and wine as well as local ‘farm shops’ selling fresh produce. There are two weekly markets.
If you don't mind a bit of walking you could get by with taxi and public transport, but we recommend renting a car for scenic mountain drives and there is also a wonderful coastal road on the way to Spain. If you would like to get to Spain quicker there is a toll road.
We have seen Flamingo's (in August) on the nearby salt lakes, Etang’s, as well as many other varieties of birds, if you like a bit of 'twitching' this has got to be a must see.
